Gunpowder Falls Day Hike, March 2003

Aspiring NORSA member, Jeremy Shull, proposed this day trip in lieu of the Kennedy Peak camping trip that he was unable to attend because co-founder Adam Domanski had to go back to college early and changed the trip dates. So, a crew of friends set out on a day hike on one of the many Gunpowder Falls trails.

The NORSA crew did everything from light bouldering to fly-fishing on the trip and plan to return sometime to do a more extensive trip perhaps with rock climbing, fishing, and camping. This a great state park located in Maryland off Route 83 near Baltimore. An excellent choice for anyone nearby.

Jeremy and Colin take a quick rest at the top of a hill.

The adventurers pause for a photo before continuing.

Jer scouts ahead while MonoMike paces back and forth.

A deer lies dead in the creek and freaks out passers-by.

Across the stream a tree has fallen prey to beavers.

Yet another shot of the high rock projection with the guys.

Sorry, you have got to be sick of these pictures by now.

This is the last one of that damn rock, we swear.

Jer begins his climb to the top of a new and better rock.

Here he has gotten a little closer to the top of it.

Tom spots MonoMike as he begins his own ascent to the top.

MonoMike has made minimal upward progress by this picture.

Tom nimbly climbs his way up the rock face to his friends.

Then he poses for a picture while hanging on to the rocks.

The new kings of the mountain stand proud on a new perch.

MonoMike pushes Jer and Tom off the cliff and proclaims a new king.

Here, Jer has returned from the dead to replace MonoMike as king.
